GE G9OCAASSPSS is a countertop convection toaster oven with interior volume of 0.88 cubic feet (26.3 quarts). It has selectable temperature range from 140°F to 450°F (range does change depending on cooking function you are using).

Cooking with GE G9OCAASSPSS Convection Toaster Oven

It’s surprising that such a reputable and well established brand like GE can offer convection toaster oven at such affordable pricing. It does beg the question – is GE G9OCAASSPSS just as good as more expensive models? The answer unfortunately is no. Even though GE G9OCAASSPSS is not a bad convection toaster oven neither is it a great one.

More expensive models like Breville BOV845BSS or Ninja DT251 Foodi are more versatile, higher quality and also cook a bit better. GE G9OCAASSPSS cooks fairly well and is not a bad convection oven however it’s also definitely not as good as more expensive alternative.

GE G9OCAASSPSS has 7 cooking functions toast, bake, broil, bagel, pizza, roast and keep warm. They all work reasonably well except toasting and bagel – if you are getting this oven for the toaster function then forget about it. GE G9OCAASSPSS fits 9’’ x 11’’ baking pans.

Overall GE G9OCAASSPSS performs fairly well considering how affordable it’s however it’s not as good as more expensive models.

Noise

Fan is a little bit loud so GE G9OCAASSPSS isn’t the quietest countertop oven.

Control panel

Control panel of GE G9OCAASSPSS convection toaster oven features display screen that shows multitude of information (temperature, time left, shade setting, preheat notification, convection fan status (on or off), etc.), 3 buttons (Start, Cancel and Convection) as well 3 control knobs (One for selecting cooking mode and the other for adjusting temperature, time, share and amount of slices).

Temperature can be adjusted in 10 degree increments so for some recipes you will have to go 5 degrees over or under (i.e. recipe says use 375°F but the closest temperatures you can select are 370°F or 380°F).

Clearance

As most (if not all) countertop ovens GE G9OCAASSPSS requires some clearance for airflow. In this case there must be at least 4 inches (10 centimeters) on all sides and top.

Before first use

Before you actually cook anything in the oven GE recommends to use ROAST cooking function for 20 minutes with empty oven to remove any protective films on the heating elements.

Verdict

GE G9OCAASSPSS is not a bad convection toaster oven for the money but as most budget priced things it’s not great. You would be better off with spending a bit more for something like Breville BOV845BSS or Ninja DT251 Foodi. If you absolutely need something inexpensive then GE G9OCAASSPSS will perform fairly well most of the time but have realistic expectations and understand it won’t be as good as more advanced unit.
