Frigidaire EFIC101 26-lb. Ice Making Machine Review

Frigidaire EFIC101 is one of the most sold budget priced ice machines, but does it really deserve to be so popular?

Frigidaire EFIC101 ice maker can make up to 26 pounds of ice cubes in 24 hours – however that’s an optimistic figure and most of the time you can expect production to be 0.65 to 0.83 lbs per hour (15-20 lbs per 24 hours).

It makes 9 ice cubes per batch and each batch takes 7-15 minutes to make – depending on air and water temperatures as well as selected ice cubes size (there is 2 size options: small and large ice cubes). A batch of large ice cubes usually take like 10 minutes to be made.

Ice quality is mediocre – that doesn’t mean it’s bad it’s just that ice cubes come out a bit wet and if you put them in the freezer for later use they will freeze together into a large clump. It’s also not the best tasting ice but for putting inside drinks it works just fine.

Frigidaire EFIC101 26-lb. Ice cube maker uses compressor cooling system without any chemical refrigerants.

Interface

Frigidaire EFIC101 has only two buttons – for turning ice machine on/off and for selecting ice cube size.

It also has 5 indicator lights:

  • “Add water” warning – when you need to add water in water reservoir
  • “Ice full” warning – when ice bin is full
  • “Power” – indicates when the machine is turned on
  • “S” – indicates that you have selected small ice cube size
  • “L” – indicated that you have selected large ice cube size

Features

Water reservoir capacity is 2.3 qt (about 2.2 liters) – pretty average however ice bin can hold up to 2.6 lbs of ice cubes which is more than most ice makers in this price class. Ice bin isn’t refrigerated though so ice cubes melt inside.

Dimensions and weight

Frigidaire EFIC101 26 pound ice maker measures 9.52 inches long, 14.09 inches wide and 12.91 inches tall.

Conclusions

Frigidaire EFIC101 is a decent budget priced ice maker however it’s not the best in its price class. If you are looking for a good ice maker machine you might also want to read our Best Portable/Countertop Ice Makers article.
