Eureka Mignon Notte Espresso Grinder Review
Eureka Mignon Notte is one of the least expensive burr grinder of Mignon model lineup yet it’s the most exclusive in a sense that it’s hardest to come by – it can be purchased only in handful of places.
So how good is Eureka Mignon Notte espresso grinder? Let’s find out!
Grinding
Eureka Mignon Notte is equipped with 50mm hardened steel flat burr and has 210 watt motor. It has stepless (infinite) grind size adjustment which means you can make really minuscule adjustments but it makes going back-and-forth between different settings more difficult. It’s a manual grinder so there isn’t time or weight based dosing.
Mignon grinders have a really good reputation and this being marketed as espresso grinder you would expect grind quality to be great for espresso and it really is. Eureka Mignon Notte can grind very fine and grind quality is really great. Grounds are very consistent. Only thing to complain about is that there might a little bit clumping. If you go really fine (finer that you would need for espresso) then there will be a lot of clamping.
So what about coarser grinds? Can Eureka Mignon Notte do them too? Yes it can, but it’s not perfect. The coarser you go the more inconsistencies you will notice in grounds. Good for Aeropress and decent for Pour Over or finer Drip coffee. Definitely not the grinder you get for French Press but it can do a tolerable job if you drink it once in a while and don’t have high expectations. They very coarsest settings are bad in terms of consistency so don’t even try to use them.
Noise
Eureka Mignon Notte doesn’t have sound insulation like more expensive Mignon models so it’s louder than them but it’s not any louder than other burr grinder typically are.
Quality
Eureka Mignon Notte has aluminum housing so it feels really sturdy and solid for the most part but there are parts that feel less robust. For example portafilter holder is made of plastic instead of metal like on more expensive Mignom models. Bean hopper also doesn’t feel super sturdy but it’s not terrible bad either.
Conclusions
Eureka Mignon Notte is a very basic espresso burr grinder. It has no fancy features but not everyone needs them. What matters most is grind quality and when it come to espresso Mignon Notte does amazing job for the money.
