Elechomes IM2102ADT 27lbs/24Hrs Countertop Ice Maker Review

Elechomes IM2102ADT-UL is a portable countertop ice maker that can make up to 27 pounds of ice cubes every 24 hours.

Ice production

Elechomes IM2102ADT uses R600a/23g refrigerant for ice making. It makes a batch of 9 ice cubes in as little 7 minutes (sometimes it can take a little bit longer due to ice maker not being cooled down enough or warm air or water).

Ice cube are bullet shaped with hollow inside. Ice quality is decent but not great. Ice cubes are rather small so they do melt a bit fast. They also tend to freeze together into a clump if you put them in freezer (which you will have to do if you want to save them for later use as ice basket is not refrigerated) which you will have a hard time breaking apart if you don’t have an ice pick.

It can make ice cubes in two different sizes however actual size difference is insignificant.

Quality

Elechomes IM2102ADT-UL feels reasonably well made for its price. Housing is made of stainless steel while the lid and internal part from BPA free ABS plastic. It has C5H10 foaming.

Control panel

Elechomes IM2102ADT-UL control panel features 2 buttons and 6 indicator lights. On of the buttons is for turning ice maker on or off and the other is for selecting ice cube size or starting self-cleaning mode.

Two of the indicators are for warning you when water reservoir is empty or ice basket full. Two more are for displaying which ice size setting you have selected. Then there’s one which lights up when ice maker is simply turned on and another one for when it’s in self-cleaning mode.

Features

Elechomes IM2102ADT doesn’t require any plumbing – you just plug it in, manually pour water and turn ice maker on to begin ice making process.

Other features include sensors that detect when water reservoir is empty or ice basket full. Water reservoir capacity is 68 oz or 2 liters. Lid is transparent so you can see how many ice cubes are in basket without opening the lid.

Conclusions

Elechomes IM2102ADT-UL is not the best countertop ice maker but it’s a decent unit for the money. Only significant complaint is that ice cubes it makes are small. Some might be disappointed by the fact that ice basket is not refrigerated so ice cubes will slowly melt if left behind but units with refrigerated basket are considerably more expensive so you can’t complain.
