Duxtop 8500ST E210C2 1800W Portable Induction Cooktop
Since Duxtop 8500ST / E210C2 is induction cooktop it will only work with cookware that has magnetic bottom (like cast iron, iron, magnetic steel, enameled iron, stainless steel with magnetic bottom). It’s certainly disadvantage that you cannot use any type of cookware however there are some advantages – induction stoves are faster, more accurate and more energy efficient than conventional electric or gas stoves.
These advantages apply do Duxtop 8500ST as well. It heats up (and down) fast and doesn’t emit unnecessary heat. Subsequently it cooks fast too and bring water to boil quickly as well. It must be noted that the bottom of the cookware you use must be at least 5 inches in diameter.
This unit does make some noise. It’s equipped with a fan that makes noise that can be described as moderately loud. It can also sometimes make some squeeling noices.
Control panel of Duxtop 8500ST (E210C2) features sensor touch panel and LED display.
You can set up a timer of up to 170 minutes. By pressing “-” and “+” buttons you will adjust temperature in 1 degree increments but by holding – in 10 minute increments. When the timer reaches 0 the unit will beep and shut off. If you do not set a timer the unit will automatically turn off after 120 minutes without touching controls (due to safety regulations).
This unit also has “Lock” function which locks the control panel so you don’t accidentally change the cooking settings.
If “POT” error code is displayed it means the cookware is not suitable for induction cooking.
Other Error Codes
There are 3 other possible error codes:
- E1: Excessive high temperature, cooking fan malfunction or inadequate ventilation for the cooktop.
- E2: If the surface temperature reaches 554°F overheat protection will kick in. In such case “E2” error code will show up and shut down the unit in approximately 1 minute.
- E3: Voltage is too high or too low.
Duxtop 8500ST / E210C2 portable induction cooktop is easy to clean however it does pick up fingerprints a lot.
Overall Duxtop 8500ST (E210C2) is overall a decent portable induction cooktop without any significant flaws. It’s not perfect though and there are some things you could complain about – it could be quieter, it could not pick up fingerprints so easily etc. but overall it’s just as good if not slightly better than most portable induction cooktops with a single burner.
