DEWALT DCCS670X1 60V chainsaw has been extensively praised by consumers but being electric chainsaw can it compete with gas units? We will find that out in a bit but first lets get straight to some general specs to get some first impressions what kind of unit it’s.

DEWALT DCCS670X1 60V is a mid-sized battery powered chainsaw with brushless motor. It’s fitted with a low kick back 16-inch Oregon bar and chain.


Cutting performance

Wow does it cut well for a battery powered chainsaw. Definitely comparable to many gas chainsaws. Perhaps it’s not best choice for cutting thick hardwoods but it can down trees quite well with thickness of 12” and more depending on wood. Cuts through limbs or beams like hot knife through butter.

Battery

Battery has three built-in LED lights that within a press of a button shows how much charge you roughly have left. If all 3 light up light up you have somewhere between 75% to 100% of charge left, two mean 51% to 74% of charge left and 1 means less than 50%. If none light up well it means you are out of juice.

Recharging takes about 90 minutes so you might need a second battery. It recharges faster with fast-charger but DCCS670X1 doesn’t come with one so you have to purchase it separately.

Trigger safety leaves mixed feelings though. If you are right handed it’s easy to use and press with your thumb but if you are left-handed you will find it uncomfortable to some degree as you won’t be able to push it with your left thumb due to where the safety trigger is positioned.

DEWALT DCCS670X1 60V chainsaw has anti-kickback chain brake lever, if you push it to forward position not only it stop the chain but also shuts off the motor. It also features auto-oiling and tool-less chain tensioning which makes adjusting chain quick and simple. Adding oil is easy too and since the tank is translucent you can always check the level.


Conclusions

DEWALT DCCS670X1 60V is a really good chainsaw. It’s probably not something you would buy if you were a professional landscaper, not at least as your main unit, but it’s everything most homeowners will ever need and it can be really handy on construction sites. It’s powerful, well balanced and offers great value for money.
