Cuisinart RHM-100 EvolutionX Cordless Hand Mixer Review

We all have used hand mixers but how convenient it would be if you didn’t have to deal with a cord? Cuisinart RHM-100 EvolutionX offers just that. It is a cordless hand mixer powered by 7.4V Lithium Ion battery which can run for around 20 minutes on full charge.

Is Cuisinart RHM-100 EvolutionX really the hand mixer of the future?

Mixing

Cuisinart RHM-100 EvolutionX hand mixer has 5 speeds which is the same amount that most other corded mixers have. The real question is does it do a good job of mixing? It depends.

It has no issues with beating eggs or whipping cream however it does start to struggle with heavier doughs. It just doesn’t have the power that some of the corded hand mixers have at half the price have. It’s very obvious that you are mostly paying for the cordless design here.

Ergonomics

At least ergonomics are decent. Cuisinart RHM-100 EvolutionX is light and comfortable to hold in hand.

Accessories

Cuisinart RHM-100 EvolutionX hand mixer comes with 2 beaters and that’s it. This is not a huge issue but many hand mixers nowadays come with more than that.

Battery

On full charge Cuisinart RHM-100 EvolutionX will run for about 20 minutes continuously before fully depleting its battery. Keyword here is “about” as run time does depend on what you are mixing and which speed you are using. Thick doughs mixed at fifth speed will deplete the battery faster.

Amount of charge left is displayed by three Blue LED indicator lights. If one indicator light is flashing it means there is less than 40% of charge left. Two lights flashing means there’s between 40% to 70% of charge left. Two lights illuminated and 1 flashing means 75% to 95% of charge left and if all three are solid it means over 95% of charge.

It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the batteries which will give you around 20 minutes of run time. However if you only charge for 60 minutes you will get under 6 minutes of run time. Charging for 30 minutes gets you less than 2 minutes. The further you charge the more run time you will get per minute charged.

Conclusions

The idea of cordless hand mixer is a pretty cool one but it seems that technology just isn’t cost effective yet. You essentially get to pay more for less power even if you do get a bit more convenience. Whether this is a good trade off is up to you to decide.
