Cuisinart AFR-25 Convection Toaster Oven/Air Fryer Review

Cuisinart AFR-25 is a convection toaster oven/air fryer that can cook in temperature as high as 450 degrees Fahrenheit which is an advantage as most competing products only go as high as 400°F. This alone however isn’t enough to make a good convection toaster oven/air fryer, so is it?

Cooking

Cuisinart AFR-25 cooks food fast, well and it comes out delicious however there are some nuances. There’s heating element only on top and since there isn’t one on bottom some foods will require flipping over to be evenly cooked.

Another slight flaw is that it has mechanical timer which often isn’t precise. Since timing may be off you might want to check your food while it’s cooking to see if everything is okay and interior light would be helpful but it doesn’t have on either.

Another flaw is that housing can get warm or even hot (usually only glass and back side gets hot with rest of the unit being warm).

Accessories

Cuisinart AFR-25 Toaster Oven/Air Fryer comes with air fry basket and baking pan/drip tray. They are not dishwasher safe and should be hand washed, preferably with hot, sudsy water with nylon scouring pad or nylon brush. To make cleaning grease easier you can soak them in hot sudsy water or use nonabrasive cleaners.

Controls

Control panel is super basic making Cuisinart AFR-25 very simple to use. There are two dials, one for selecting temperature and another one for selecting cooking time. Once you dialed the latter one above 0 minutes it will turn on and start cooking, once timer goes to 0 the air fryer turns off.

Be aware that if you want to set the time under 20 minutes you first have to turn the dial past the 20 minute mark and then you can go back to desired minute amount.

There’s also an indicator light that shows whether Cuisinart AFR-25 had warmed up to selected temperature.

Features

Cuisinart AFR-25 has non-stick interior. Exterior (housing) is made of brushed stainless steel which leaves impression of being sturdy and well made.

Conclusions

Cuisinart AFR-25 is inexpensive for what it offers however it has some flaws that more expensive toaster oven/air fryers don’t have so at the end of the day it’s a mediocre air fryer (which doesn’t mean it’s a bad one, it’s just that there are better alternatives albeit they will likely be more expensive).
