COOKTRON FS-IRC103 Double Induction Cooktop Burner Review

COOKTRON FS-IRC103 is double burner induction cooktop that’s compatible with magnetic cookware that’s 4.73” to 10.23” inches in diameter. COOKTRON FS-IRC103 has 1800 watt power supply and each burner has 10 temperature levels (140°F to 464°F) as well 9 power levels (from 200W to 1800W)

COOKTRON FS-IRC103 Double Induction Cooktop Burner

COOKTRON FS-IRC103 works just like induction cooktop is supposed to work. It heats up super quick and cooks well. Heat distribution seems to even and it doesn’t heat up your kitchen like regular ovens do.

There’s one caveat though. To be fair this applies to other countertop cooktops with two burners too but it’s something you must be aware of before you make a purchase.

The caveat is that the 1800 watt power supply is shared between both burners. What this means is that you can’t use highest temperature settings on both burners at the same time. If left burner is set to 464°F and you start to cook with right burner then the left ones temperature will be automatically decreased.

The consequences of this are not as bad as they might sound – you can still cook on both burners simultaneously just fine however you won’t be able to boil two pots at the same time (you can simmer them though).

Advantaged and Disadvantages of Induction Cooktops

The main advantages of induction cooktops are that they heat up very fast and are energy efficient (therefore more environment friendly as well).

The main disadvantage is that induction cooktops are only compatible with magnetic cookware (made of ferrous metal) that has flat bottom like stainless steel, cast aluminum, cast iron, or enameled iron. Here’s a test you can do: if magnet sticks to the cookware then it should be compatible with induction cooktops.

Control panel

Each burner gets its own set of controls. They each get an LCD display and 7 touch-sensitive buttons: “Booster”, “Timer”, “-“, “+”, “Function”, “On/Off” and “Child lock”.

Control panel could be more responsive – it might not be responsive if you are clicking buttons super quickly but to be fair most consumers will never click them fast enough for this to be a problem.

One thing that some might find annoying is that there’s no button for turning this countertop burner fully off. After you finish cooking the unit goes into stand by mode and the only way to turn it off fully is to unplug it.

Verdict

Overall COOKTRON FS-IRC103 is adequate double burner induction cooktop for the money. It works well and even though there are some things you might dislike (like not being able to use highest temperatures on both burners at same time) other models from other manufacturers also have these shortcomings.
