COOKLEE SM-1551 9.5 Qt. 660W 10-Speed Stand Mixer Review

COOKLEE SM-1551 is a stand mixer with 660 watt motor and 9.5-quart mixing bowl.

Performance

The good news is that COOKLEE SM-1551 gets the job done, the bad news is that it’s far from perfect.

The biggest issue is that there is some space between the attachments and the bottom of the bowl so some of the ingredients may remain unmixed in some cases unless you do some scraping. This is also an issue if you want to whip small amounts of something (i.e. 2 eggs) as attachments might not reach the ingredients.

The motor could be more powerful as well. It’s powerful enough in most cases but sometimes can struggle a bit if you are mixing larger amounts of stiff dough.

On higher speeds COOKLEE SM-1551 stand mixer is very loud and can shake however it stays put in place thanks to powerful suction cups.

Another thing to note is that despite being advertised as having 10 speeds COOKLEE SM-1551 really has 6 speeds as 3, 5, 7 and 9 aren’t on the dial (you get 0, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 + Pulse).

Quality

When we talk about stand mixers the KitchenAid models are the benchmark. So what are the differences between a KitchenAid stand mixer and COOKLEE SM-1551 quality wise? Essentially, everything.

The main difference is that KitchenAid stand mixers have metal housing whereas COOKLEE SM-1551 is mostly made of plastic. For this reason it doesn’t feel as sturdy however it’s a lot lighter. Attachments and the bowl isn’t as sturdy as you get with KitchenAid as well.

Basically COOKLEE SM-1551 feels cheap compared to KitchenAid stand mixers. The quality isn’t necessarily terrible on its own, but it’s when you have a KitchenAid standing next to you.

Attachments

COOKLEE SM-1551 9.5QT stand mixer comes with dough hook, flat beater, wire whip attachments. They are dishwasher safe.

Accessories

COOKLEE SM-1551 9.5QT stand mixer comes with splash guard.

Verdict

There is a reason why COOKLEE SM-1551 9.5QT stand mixer is much more affordable than KitchenAid KSM7581 – it’s nowhere near as good. It will get the job done most of the time so if you do need something affordable with a big bowl then it might be worth to buy as long as you are aware and ready to accept all the flaws but KitchenAid is the benchmark for a reason.
