Capresso Infinity 560.01 Conical Burr Grinder Review

Capresso Infinity 560.01 burr grinder is equipped with conical steel burrs and features 16 grind settings (4 different extra fine grind settings, 4 different fine grind settings, 4 different of regular grind settings and 4 different coarse grind settings). Its bean hopper can hold 8.8 ounces of coffee beans and grounds bin holds up to 4 ounces of ground coffee. So how well does Capresso Infinity 560.01 fare for an inexpensive burr grinder?

Grinding

Let’s start with coarse setting. The very coarsest grind is not as coarse as you would expect, or as coarse as you get with other burr grinders. Consistency is also not great but it’s not terrible, there are plenty of burr grinders at this price point who output less consistent grind.

Medium grinds is what Capresso Infinity 560.01 excels at. They are very consistent and come out really good. Not quite as good as you get with $500 burr grinder, but for the money you can’t complain.

Capresso Infinity 560.01 can grind finer that other burr grinders at this price point but for non-pressurized portafilter a bit finer grind would be better. For pressurized portafilter it’s good enough. Consistency is good when it comes to fine grinds but of course not as good as with high-end burr grinder.

Capresso Infinity 560.01 burrs grind within 0.1 mm precision (1/250 inch) precision and it features multiple gear motor that grinds relatively slow – under 450 RPM. You might think that slower grinding might be a bad thing but it’s not necessarily that way. You see if burrs operate at high RPM’s they heat up and that causes for flavour to be extracted from beans ultimately making your coffee less tasty. The low RPM burrs Capresso Infinity seem to work as coffee ends up tasting great with no bitterness.

Overall Capresso Infinity grinds pretty well for the money. It’s best for medium-coarse and medium grinds. Extra coarse (think French press) and fine (espresso) are decent but not perfect. Like any burr grinder it’s not exactly quiet but it’s quieter than most.

Quality

Housing is made of ABS plastic. Although Capresso Infinity doesn’t feel like it’s going to break it does feel a bit flimsy. Well that’s what you get with cheap burr grinders.

Features

Upper burr can be removed for easier clean up and Capresso Infinity comes with cleaning brush which will come handy for that exact purpose.

Conclusions

Capresso Infinity 560.01 is a decent burr grinder for the money but as all inexpensive grinders it’s not perfect. It’s a decent option for those who are looking for their first burr grinder or are not exactly ready to spend hundreds of dollars for a more serious unit.
