Breville BOV860 (also known as Breville BOV860BSS or Breville BOV860BSS1BUS1) is smart air fryer toaster oven with temperature range of 120°F to 450°F and 1800 watt power supply.

Breville BOV860 heats up fast, cooks very evenly and doesn’t heat up your whole kitchen. It also features dual speed convection and Element IQ® system that keeps track of temperature throughout the oven and regulates it in different places to create better cooking environment for improved results.

Overall Breville BOV860 cooks really well – certainly better than less expensive models (a lot of them work pretty well too but not as good as Breville). Breville BOV860 has strong convection power so it can work very similarly to an air fryer and give food a very nice, crispy outside with Air Fry cooking function.

Breville BOV860 has 11 cooking functions: Toast, Bagel, Broil, Bake, Roast, Warm, Pizza, Air Fry, Reheat, Cookies and Slow Cook. They all work very well with maybe 1 exception – Toast. The Toast cooking function does work fairly well but it won’t give bread same level of toastness as a regular toaster would.

Breville BOV860 doesn’t have rotisserie feature like some countertop ovens do but to be fair they often are finicky.

Does the exterior of Breville BOV860BSS gets hot?

Yes. As with most countertop ovens the exterior of Breville BOV860BSS does get hot so don’t touch it during or soon after cooking. It does have legs at the base so the metal doesn’t touch the countertop so it’s unlikely heat would damage it.

Clean up

You should clean every time after cooking and avoid grease build up as eventually it can cause some smoking. Also the longer you wait to clean it (or the more times you cook without cleaning) the harder it will be to clean.

Cleaning a countertop oven is a bit more tedious than regular air fryer but Breville BOV860 is well designed making it easier to clean than cheaper models (but still not as easy as air fryer with nonstick basket).

Size

Breville BOV860 does take a lot of countertop space but it’s not the largest countertop oven you can buy. It measures 18.5 inches wide, 14.6 inches deep and 11 inches tall.

Verdict

Breville BOV860 is pretty impressive smart oven overall. It’s certainly more advanced and cooks a bit better than less expensive countertop ovens. Is it worth the price gap though? For a lot of consumers it is however some of the less expensive countertop ovens might be good enough for those who want to save money. If the price tag is acceptable to you then Breville BOV860 is a solid choice. It’s definitely one of the better countertop ovens for the money and to buy something noticeably better (i.e. June Smart Oven) you will likely have to spend a lot more money.
