Breville BHM800SIL Handy Mix Scraper Hand Mixer Review
Breville BHM800SIL is a hand mixer with 150 watt motor and 9 speed settings. It’s one of the more expensive hand mixers but is it worth the money? Let’s find out!
Mixing
Breville BHM800SIL does a good job of mixing. It has good power. Of course it doesn’t have the power of a stand mixer but it does the job just fine.
It has 9 speed settings which is more than what most hand mixers offer. With so many speed options you can really find the setting that works the best for each situation. There’s also a button you can press for power boost but instead of giving just a tad of more power it seems to give you the maximum power (same as speed 9) instead whether you are on speed 1 or speed 8.
Another cool thing is that slowest speed is actually slow so nothing will splatter. With many hand mixers the slowest speed is actually pretty fast and splattering is unavoidable in such cases.
Noise
Breville BHM800SIL Handy Mix Scraper is a lot quieter than most hand mixers.
Controls
Breville BHM800SIL had LCD display that shows selected speed setting as well for how long you have been mixing. It has two buttons: “Pause” and “On/Off”. If you have to stop mixing for a little bit you can pause the hand mixer and when you go back into it unpausing will preserve last speed setting.
It also has a dial with which you select speed setting or activate power boost function once pressed.
Ergonomics
Breville BHM800SIL Handy Mix Scraper is comfortable to use. One thing to note – it’s a bit heavier than hand mixers usually are weighing 4 pounds but it’s not too heavy where your hand would get tired from holding it.
Attachments
Breville BHM800SIL Handy Mix Scraper comes with two beaters , two dough hooks and two baloon whisks. The beaters are partly rubberized which reduces noise and makes mixing more efficient.
Features
Breville BHM800 hand mixer comes with storage case where you can neatly store the hand mixer and all of the attachments.
Breville BHM800 hand mixer also has swivel cord and built-in light. The built-in light feature might sounds gimmicky but it actually illuminates bowl underneath pretty neatly when there’s not perfect lighting.
Issues
A lot of consumers have had issues with rubber coming off from the beaters. This would render them unusable as otherwise you might contaminate your food.
In some cases consumers see this problem after first or first few uses, others only after a year. Then there are those who haven’t reported such issue. It’s hard to estimate how common this is but it seems it’s quite common. You might have to eventually find replacement beaters that fit without rubber.
Conclusions
Breville BHM800 is a really impressive hand mixer overall. The only issue is that many consumers have reported rubber coming off the beaters so you might have to eventually find replacements (preferably without rubber that fit inside the slots to prevent same issue).
