Best Mini Donut Makers (Review)

Mini donut makers gives you opportunity to make small, cute and relatively healthy donuts at home. And the best part is you can make them in any way you want. If you are on a special diet you can make paleo or gluten-free ones, you can melt them in butter and roll in sugar or dip in chocolate and add sprinkles. You can find thousands of recipes on internet and it’s up to you to find the best one! 🙂

And when was ever 1 donut enough for a kid? Instead of letting them eat multiple unhealthy big ones, you can make a few healthy ones and trick them into consuming less calories. They won’t taste exactly like fried ones because they are baked but they are still tasty if you use a good recipe and certainly healthier.

#1 VonShef Electric 12 Mini Donut Maker

VonShef mini donut maker bakes 12 donuts per batch. It bakes them quickly and pretty evenly (although it seems like bottom does stay a bit too hot sometimes). Donuts do not stick, device has non-stick coating which also makes clean up easy. With a decent recipe donuts turn out very tasty.

It has indicator lights to indicate when the device is turned on and when it has achieved necessary temperature for baking.

#2 Brentwood TS-250 Mini Donut Maker Machine

Brentwood TS-250 750 watt powered mini donut maker makes 7 donuts per batch.  It’s very easy to use and fast too. It takes just a couple minutes to bake a batch (like 2-3 minutes). Once it has warmed up and ready to bake donuts the green indicator light will turn on.

Donuts turn out really good. They are cooked evenly, don’t get burned and taste great (although the latter depends more on recipe than the machine itself).

Brentwood TS-250 has some flaws though. It doesn’t feel exactly heavy duty and the housing of the unit does get hot so you might have to use oven mitt or a cloth to open/close the unit without burning yourself.

#3 Babycakes DN-6 Mini Doughnut Maker

Babycakes DN-6 mini doughnut maker bakes a batch of 6 donuts in around 4-5 minutes. Lower plate seems to get hotter than the upper one so you might have to flip donuts to get even browning. Just like most donut makers this one also has non-stick plates.

Comes with fork tool, wire rack and recipes (although they aren’t very tasty and you should just look for different ones on internet).

#4 Chef Buddy Hot Donut Maker

Chef Buddy Hot donut maker bakes 7 donuts per batch. It works fast, cooks a nice batch of fresh donuts in like 2-3 minutes (instructions state to cook for longer but if you follow them you will most likely end up with overburned donuts). It has “power on” and “ready to cook” indicator lights however you cannot trust them reliably.

Chef Buddy Hot donut maker has non-stick coating which prevents donuts from sticking, which is good because if you use non-stick cooking spray the texture of donuts sometimes is a bit weird.

It’s not the sturdiest unit and consumer reports shows that. Some have complained about receiving unit with some minor defects (likely occurring during shipping), like missing rubber feet or close latch being broken. However reliability issues aren’t uncommon too – some have complained about the device stopping working after using in for a few times, however this issue isn’t experienced by most.

Chef Buddy Hot donut maker is 11 inches long, 7.75 inches wide and 4.5 inches high. Cord length is 30 inches.

#5 Sunbeam Fpsbdml920 Donut Maker

Sunbeam Fpsbdml920 makes only 5 donuts per batch, which is less than other donut makers. If you are trying to make many it will take much longer than with other machines. Each batch takes usually around 6 minutes to bake, but can take as little as 3 minutes and as long as 9 depending on circumstances. It features non-stick plates.

Manual states that you should fill just below mark but that doesn’t work very well because top of the donuts don’t brown. If you overfill a bit then they seem turn out baked pretty evenly.

Housing gets hot so be careful however the plastic handle doesn’t so you can still open without issues. Handle does feel a bit flimsy though.

#6 Babycakes Nonstick Coated Donut Maker

Babycakes donut maker makes 6 donuts per batch. Each batch takes around 4 minutes to bake and donuts turn out near perfect. Using this machine is easy and it features non-stick baking plates which makes clean up easy.

Babycakes donut maker comes with fork tool, wire rack and recipes.

Some consumers have complained about really weird issue. Apparently they received units that aren’t brand new i.e. have obviously been used previously and sometimes have been even dirty.
