Best Kneeling Chairs (Review)

Kneeling chairs relieve neck and back pain by evenly distributing your weight throughout body and keeping your spine aligned. When you first start using one it might not feel that comfortable because your body needs to adapt to the pressure on your knees and shins, but after few days or weeks it shouldn’t be a problem anymore.

If you are experiencing back pain or tend to slouch then you might benefit greatly from a kneeling chair. I have done extensive research to help you choose the best kneeling chair out of 12 different models. Find out which kneeling chairs you should consider to purchase and which ones to avoid!

#1 DRAGONN Ergonomic Kneeling Chair

DRAGONN kneeling chair supports up to 250 lbs. Chair is well made and sturdy, the only flaw is casters which are not that great – they could roll better and do feel a bit fragile.

DRAGONN kneeling chair really relieves back pain, seat is tilted just right which allows proper posture and significantly decreases stress put on your lower back. Both the seat and knee heights are adjustable, so whether you are short or tall you will be able to find the right configuration for you.

Padding is pretty thick and there is less pressure on knees & shins compared to other kneeling chairs. They will still probably get somewhat sore after couple hours of sitting, especially if you haven’t been using kneeling chair before, but overall the chair is pretty comfortable.

Assembly is simple and takes around 10 minutes to complete.

Overall this is a great kneeling chair for affordable pricing.

Details:

  • Weight capacity: 250 lbs
  • Materials: Steel frame, mesh seating, sponge cushion
  • Dimensions: ~24″ x ~19″ (L x W)
  • Seat height: Adjustable from 21 to 28 inches
  • Padding thickness: 3 inches

#2 Defy Desk Kneeling Chair

Defy Desk kneeling chair supports up to 250 lbs. It forces you to have correct posture which in result decreases or eliminates back pain. It’s one of the cheaper kneeling chairs but it works quite well.

Defy Desk kneeling chair is generously padded which makes it quite comfortable to use. Manufacturer claims that thickness of padding is 3 inches, but it seems like it’s closer to 4 (which is good). The (fake?) leather does emit a strong smell to it but it goes away after few weeks.

Assembly is simple and takes around 15 minutes to complete.

Overall this is a good kneeling chair yet it’s less expensive than others.

Details:

  • Weight capacity: 250 lbs
  • Materials: Metal frame, foam cushion, (faux?) leather
  • Dimensions: ~24″ x ~19″ (L x W)
  • Seat height: Adjustable from 21 to 28 inches
  • Padding thickness: 3 inches

#3 Sleekform The Atlanta Kneeling Chair

Sleekform “The Atlanta” kneeling chair supports up to 265 lbs.

Seat is completely flat and the angle is not adjustable which affects ergonomics and your posture in a negative way. This kinda defeats the purpose of the kneeling chair at least partially. It still decreases the back pain, but it could do it more effectively if not for this design flaw.

Height is adjustable, but you cannot adjust seat and knee rest separately which limits adjustability a lot. If you are 5’6″ or shorter then you might find this kneeling chair uncomfortable.

Padding is thick and dense, you can sit on this kneeling chair for hours without feeling much discomfort in your legs. Overall the chair is quite comfortable but after 1-2 hours you will start to feel some soreness in your knees and/or shins.

The rolling wheels are of cheap quality and might break.

This kneeling chair has some flaws but overall it’s a pretty good one.

Details:

  • Weight capacity: 265 lbs
  • Materials: Steel frame, memory foam cushion, faux leather
  • Seat height: Adjustable from 18 to 25 inches
  • Weight: 16 lbs
  • Padding thickness: 4 inches

#4 Sleekform The Tokyo Kneeling Chair

Sleekform “The Tokyo” kneeling chair supports up to 265 lbs.

Does a pretty good job of reducing/eliminating back pain. Comfort wise it’s decent, but it does cause some knee/shin fatigue over time. However if you are 5’6″ or shorter then you probably won’t find it comfortable. Sleekform “The Tokyo” kneeling chair has a backrest which provides lumbar support and is something that most kneel chairs doesn’t have.

It’s well made from good quality materials. Padding is 4 inches thick and is made of 50% recycled foam and 50% memory foam.

Overall this is a mediocre kneeling chair.

Details:

  • Weight capacity: 265 lbs
  • Materials: Steel frame, foam cushion, faux leather
  • Seat height: Adjustable from 18 to 25 inches (22″-29″)
  • Padding thickness: 4 inches

#5 Sleekform The Austin Kneeling Chair

Sleekform “The Austin” kneeling chair chair supports up to 265 lbs. It features 3 wood cross bars that are made of 20 ply birchwood. Padding is 4 inches thick.

It certainly improves posture but does not relieve as much back pain as some other models. Knees start to hurt after not that long sitting time.

The wood frame is not a sturdy as metal obviously, so the lifetime of this unit is questionable. Assembled unit feels a bit wobbly and doesn’t feel all that sturdy.

Quality control seems to be a common issue with this model as many consumers have complained about the holes not lining up. If you buy this model and you experience this problem then you should ask for replacement.

Cushions emit strong smell at first but it goes away in about a week.

Instructions are awful and hard to follow.

Overall this unit if far from great, there are better alternatives at this pricing.

Details:

  • Weight capacity: 265 lbs
  • Materials: Birchwood frame, foam cushion, faux leather
  • Seat height: Adjustable from 18 to 25 inches
  • Padding thickness: 4 inches

#6 Flash Furniture Mobile Wooden Ergonomic Kneeling Chair

Flash Furniture wooden kneeling chair is made of wood and can hold up to 200 lbs. It actually feels like cheap composite particle board than “real” wood. Because of this it’s somewhat likely that this unit won’t last long and will break.

Seat and knee rests are filled with 2 inched thick CA117 fire retardant foam covered in breathable fabric. Despite being only 2 inch thick the cushions are rather comfortable. The fabric is of low quality though and will most likely tear withing few weeks or months of use.

Ergonomics is decent but not best. It feels like the seat is too high. It’s hard to adjust the chair properly too in a sense it’s hard to get the right angle and height. It does decrease backpain for sure though.

Overall it would be advisable to pass on this chair due to its low quality.

#7 Office Star Metal base Knee Chair

Office Star metal base knee chair supports up to 200 lbs.

The build quality is pretty bad. Assembled unit feels wobbly and not sturdy. Comfort is bad too and ergonomically this chair is not that great as well, after sitting on it for couple hours you can actually feel your lower back getting sore. Memory foam padding is weak and after a few minutes it feels like you are actually sitting on hard wood, so you experience butt and knee pain as well.

Overall this is a bad kneeling chair, it’s uncomfortable and doesn’t really relieve back pain.

#8 Fedmax Kneeling Chair

Fedmax kneeling chair supports up to 230 lbs.

Wheels are super fragile and you can expect them to break within few days if not on first day all together.

It does relieve back pain but doesn’t feel as ergonomically right as other units. Because of the angle of the seat the body weight isn’t put directly on knees like with most kneeling chairs do. Pads are 4 inches thick and they are decent.

The wheels are of terrible quality, they will break for sure!

Details:

  • Weight capacity: 230 lbs
  • Seat height: Adjustable from 21 to 29 inches
  • Padding thickness: 4 inches

#9 Office Star Wood Base Kneeling Chair

Office Star wood base kneeling chair supports up to 200 lbs.

There is too much pressure on shins which makes the chair uncomfortable. The problem is that padding although reasonably thick is not dense enough. The cushion is also somewhat slippery. Very limited adjustability which makes it particularly uncomfortable for people of average height or taller.

The wheels are cheaply made and fragile.

Overall this is a very flawed product, it would be smarter to avoid it and look for a better one.

Details:

  • Weight capacity: 200 lbs

#10 Flash Furniture Ergonomic Kneeling Office Chair

Flash Furniture Ergonomic kneeling office chair supports up to 200 lbs.

Knee rest is very narrow and seat is angled in a weird way which makes this kneeling chair uncomfortable. You can use chair for like 20 minutes but after that it starts to get painful. The taller you are the more uncomfortable you will find this chair. There is not much of padding too and that doesn’t help.

You can adjust height of the seat but not knee rest, which makes adjustability limited.

Overall this kneeling chair is not worth the money. It’s uncomfortable to use.

Details:

  • Weight capacity: 200 lbs

#11 Flash Furniture Mobile Wooden Kneeling Chair

Flash Furniture mobile wooden kneeling chair supports up to 250 lbs.

This kneeling chair is rather uncomfortable. Ergonomically it’s not quite perfect and the seating position feels more or less awkward. Backrest is adjustable, but it only has 3 settings so adjustability is limited and it easily goes out of adjustment so it’s pretty useless. It certainly lacks padding too which is 2 inches thick and not dense at all. You start to feel the wooden panel within few minutes and it won’t take long for your knees to start hurting. Padding is filled with CA117 fire retardant foam.

Screws seem to loosen over time so once in a while you have to tighten them. This can be a possible safety hazzard if you forget to tighten them. The construction doesn’t feel that sturdy so it’s questionable how long this kneeling chair will last.

Overall this kneeling chair is uncomfortable to use and the build quality is mediocre at best which is why it would be best to avoid it.

Details:

  • Weight capacity: 200 lbs
  • Padding thickness: 2 inches

#12 Flash Furniture Kneeling Swivel Task Office Chair

Flash Furniture kneeling swivel task office chair supports up to 250 lbs. It features ventilated polypropylene mesh back, pneumatic seat height adjustment, heavy duty nylon base  and dual wheel casters.

The materials are of low quality, parts feel somewhat fragile so don’t be surprised if they break. Assembled unit is crooked and wobbly, far from being stable and sturdy.

Ergonomics are bad too. If you are looking for a kneeling chair that will eliminate your back pain this isn’t the one.

Worst instructions ever, not only they are too small to read they are wrong too!

Overall you should avoid this unit, both the build quality and ergonomics are bad!

  • Seat Size: 17′” x 13.25′” (Width x Depth)
  • Back Size: 17.25″ x 17.25″ (Width x Height)
