Are you looking for a floating shelf? I have done extensive research to help you choose the best floating shelf out of 19 different models. Find out which floating shelves you should consider and which ones to avoid!
#1 BAYKA Floating Shelves
BAYKA floating shelves are made out of paulownia wood boards and iron brackets. This set includes three floating shelves each being different size:
- Large: 16.5 × 6 × 4.8 inches
- Medium: 14.2 × 6 × 4.8 inches
- Small: 11.4 × 6 × 4.8 inches
Looks wise they are beautiful and elegant – they are a great decor too!
BAYKA floating shelves are pretty sturdy and can hold quite a lot of weight (as long as you assemble them properly). The paulownia wood boards are very light and might leave impression of being more fragile than they actually are.
They are easy to assemble and install. You can actually assemble the iron brackets in 2 different ways which is pretty cool and gives you some customization options.
Overall these are good floating shelves. Quality and sturdiness is good for the pricing!
#2 king do way Rustic Wood Wall Floating Shelves
king do way floating shelves are made out of torched finish wood boards and iron frame. Quality is good and they are sturdy! They are stable once installed and can hold quite a lot of weight securely.
king do way floating shelves look really good in person. Not only they are practical as a storage space but also are a great decor too!
Assembly is fairly easy and instructions are well detailed.
Overall king do way floating shelf is another good choice. It’s well made and looks great!
#3 Boho Wall Hanging Shelf
Boho wall hanging shelves are made of pine wood. This set includes two pieces that are 5.25 inches long, 17.5 wide and 0.75 inches high. From hoop to shelf they are 22 inches high.
They are of high quality and durable. Installation is simple. The string come already tied to the wood shelves so you just have to loop the ring on. Comes with two type of strings: silver and gold colored so you can choose which ones you like better, however the screws are only gold colored.
They sit nicely against the wall and can handle some weight. They look amazing and are great piece of decor as well!
#4 Veken Floating Shelves
Veken floating shelves are made out of paulownia wood boards and metal brackets. This set includes 3 floating shelves of different sizes:
- Large: 16.5 x 6 x 4.8 inches
- Medium: 14.2 x 6 x 4.8 inches
- Small: 11.4 × 6 × 4.8 inches
Materials are of good quality and shelves are sturdy. Anchors are pretty cheap though so it would be advisable to buy better ones separately. Pricing of this set is very low so it’s not that big of a deal. Brackets can be mounted in two different ways.
Veken claims that these floating shelves can hold up to 40 lbs of weight – they are quite sturdy but such claim seems to be a bit over exaggerated for long term use. Shelves are on smallish side so it’s unlikely you will actually fit 40 pounds of stuff on them.
Despite some of the nitpicky complaints these are actually pretty good floating shelves.

#5 BAMFOX Floating Wall Shelf
BAMFOX floating wall shelf is made out of 100% natural bamboo boards and metal brackets.
BAMFOX floating wall shelf is pretty small in size – 16.9 x 4.1 x 3.5 inches but it’s pretty sturdy.
Darkish bamboo board look good. Metal brackets aren’t ugly but aren’t quite as aesthetically pleasing as the beautiful bamboo board. Assembly and mounting is pretty easy. Assembled unit weighs just 0.86 lbs.
#6 Peter’s Goods Rustic Floating Wall Shelves
Peter’s Goods floating wall shelves set includes 2 pre-assembled shelves. They are made out of fir wood boards and powder-coated antiqued silver steel frame. They are of good quality, however the hardware, anchors and screws, are quite opposite – cheap. It would be wise to buy higher quality screws and anchors for mounting, with good ones shelves will hold well against the wall.
Peter’s Goods shelves are 16.75 inches wide, 5.5 inches deep and 2.75 inches high. Boards are 0.7 inches thick. Shelves are attractive and look great in person!
Comes with removable towel rod. Built-in guardrails keep items more secure. According to manufacturer either can hold up to 20 lbs of weight.
#7 Mkono Wall Mounted Floating Shelves
Mkono floating shelves are made out of fibreboard boards and black metal frames. This set includes 2 floating shelves of different sizes:
- Large: 17.7″ x 4.7″ x 5.9″
- Small: 11.5″ x 4.5″ x 5.5″
They are very lightweight and easy to assemble. Despite the boards being made from fibreboard which isn’t a particularly sturdy material the shelves actually are sturdy and can hold decent amount of weight due to bottom being supported by metal frames.
Mkono floating shelves are elegant and good looking too!
#8 SODUKU Floating Shelves
SODUKU floating shelves are made out of wood boards and metal structure. This set includes two floating shelves each measuring at 16.53 by 5.83 inches.
Wood boards have guard rails to keep items safely in their place. There is also 1 removable towel hook included that can be used for holding your towel or kitchenware.
Assembled units feel fairly sturdy, they aren’t super heavy duty but you can’t expect extraordinary quality at this pricing. Anchors are of cheapish quality though. According to manufacturer they can hold up to 30 pounds of weight.
Assembly is simple and shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes.

#9 Love-KANKEI Wall Mounted Floating Shelves
Love-KANKEI floating shelves are made out of paulownia wood boards and powder coated metal brackets.
This set includes 3 floating shelves, each one of different size:
- Large: 17 × 4.7 × 4.2 inches (Width x Height x Depth)
- Medium: 13 × 4.7 × 4.2 inches
- Small: 9 × 4.7 × 4.2 inches
They are pretty smallish in size. With 4.2 inches of depth you won’t be able to fit larger items on them.
According to manufacturer each shelf can hold up to 40 pounds of weight. Wood is pretty lightweight but shelves feel fairly sturdy. Maybe not quite 40-pound-sturdy, but then again impressions might be deceiving.
Assembly is easy and shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. Wood boards aren’t coated so adding a finish might be a good idea if you want to improve the look of the shelves or protect them from moisture. They still look very nice the way they are shipped.

#10 SRIWATANA Floating Shelves
SRIWATANA floating shelves are made of paulownia wood. This set includes three U-shaped floating shelves, each of different size:
- Large: 16.7 x 4.7 x 3.9 inches
- Medium: 14 x 4.7 x 3.4 inches
- Small: 9.6 x 4.7 x 2.8 inches
Shelves are lightweight but overall quality is ok. They aren’t particularly sturdy but will work just fine as long as you won’t put heavier objects on them. They are easy to assemble, all you need is a drill and screwdriver. Assembled units looks pretty nice in person.
#11 SUPERJARE Wall Mounted Floating Shelves
SUPERJARE wall mounted floating shelves are made out of P2 particle board and powder coated metal brackets. This set includes two shelves – each is 23.6 inches long, 7.9 inches wide and 4.3 inches high, the board thickness is 0.7 inches.
Included anchors are cheap, be careful not to break them during installation. Assembly instructions are pretty weak but once you manage to assemble the shelves are pretty sturdy. Each shelf can hold up to 20 lbs according to manufacturer which seems about right. You will need level ruler, hammer and 1/4″ (6mm) drill bit for assembly.
Looks wise they are ok. They don’t look expensive and very elegant but neither do they look cheap and ugly.

#12 Greenco 4 Cube Intersecting Wall Mounted Floating Shelves
Greenco Cube Floating Shelves are made of MDF laminate. This set includes 4 intersecting shelves, each being of different size.
Assembling is very simple and requires essentially no time, installing on wall will take around 15 minutes however. Assembled unit seems to be sturdy enough despite being made of MDF laminate. Looks wise it’s very elegant and modern looking, works well as a decor as well!
Drywall anchors are of cheap quality though so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to buy better ones if you want.
#13 EWEI’S HomeWares 3 Floating U Shelves
EWEI’S HomeWares floating U-shelves are made of medium-density fibreboard. This set includes three floating shelves of different sizes (approximate dimensions):
- Large: 17″ x 4″ x 4″
- Medium: 13″ x 4″ x 3.5″
- Small: 9″ x 4″ x 3″
They look pretty good in person but they are very small and you can barely fit anything on them. They do seem to be strong enough to hold well. Assembly itself isn’t difficult but might be complicated for some because of the bad instructions. Having a screw gun will make things easier. The included screws are fragile and can easily break during assembly.
#14 SUPERJARE Wall Mounted Floating Shelves
SUPERJARE wall mounted floating shelves are made out of P2 particle board. This set includes 2 shelves that are 23.6 inches wide, 7.9 inches long and 4.3 inches high with board thickness of 0.7 inches. They are reasonably sturdy and hold items pretty well, although manufacturers claimed capacity of holding up to 20 lbs seems a bit over exaggerated.
Instructions state that’s it’s not recommended to install these shelves on dry or other hollow walls. Install directions are pretty bad but the whole process is pretty straightforward and not hard to figure out. You will need level ruler, hammer and 1/4″ (6mm) drill bit for installation.

#15 Greenco Floating U Shelves
Greenco floating U shelves are made of MDF laminate. This set includes 3 floating shelves each of different size:
- Large: 16.85″ x 4″ x 4″
- Medium: 12.87″ x 4″ x 3.5″
- Small: 9″ x 4″ x 2.83″
Wall anchors are of cheap quality and not reliable, it would be advisable to use your own. MDF boards themselves aren’t heavy duty but aren’t super fragile either. They are small in size so don’t expect to be able to put much on them. They do look pretty nice in person – you have to give it to them although you wouldn’t really call them gorgeous.
Overall Greenco floating U shelves are pretty cheap and aren’t completely terrible, however you would be better off spending extra $5-10 for higher quality ones.
#16 Sorbus Floating Shelf Set
Sorbus floating shelf set include two shelves that are made of MDF with PVC. They are about 16.25 inches long, 5.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches thick. Either can support up to 8 lbs of weight according to manufacturer.
Brackets are of not high quality so be careful not to damage them while installing. Installing itself is pretty simple though.
Shelves look good from distance but up from close it’s obvious they are cheap!
#17 AHDECOR Floating Wall Mounted Shelves
AHDECOR floating shelves are made of MDF. This set includes 3 shelves and they are 15 inches wide, 5.9 inches deep and 1.35 inches thick. They aren’t particularly sturdy and won’t be able to hold much weight. Installation is of medium difficulty – it’s not easy but neither it is overly complicated, you might struggle a bit if you are not experienced with things like this. They are not as stable as you would like once installed.
Looks wise they do look a bit cheap from up close, from distance they look more or less ok.
Overall these set is not a good choice. There are far better floating shelf sets for slightly lower pricing.
#18 Sorbus Floating Shelf
Sorbus floating shelf is made out of faux wood. The quality is pretty bad and they certainly aren’t durable. Brackets are weak and doesn’t hold the shelf properly, once you put something on it the shelf tilts down/sags. Installing is tricky too!
Sorbus floating shelf is 23.75 inches long, 9.25 inches wide and 1.5 inches thick.
It would be best to avoid Sorbus floating shelf and look for different one.
#19 Melannco Floating Wall Mount Molding Ledge Shelves
Melannco floating shelves are made of medium-density fibreboard. This set includes 4 shelves of different sizes:
- 6-Inch shelf with maximum weight capacity of 3 pounds
- 12-Inch shelf with maximum weight capacity of 4 pounds
- 20-Inch shelf with maximum weight capacity of 6 pounds
- 24-Inch shelf with maximum weight capacity of 8 pounds
They are very challenging to hang. Seriously, it’s so difficult that just on this basis alone it would be advisable to look for different ones. Don’t be surprised if you fail to get them to hand securely. Included screws and drywall anchors are of bad quality too. Black coating is not of high quality and chips easily.
Overall it would be advisable to look for different floating shelves as these ones are of low quality.
