Best Electric Griddles (Review)

I have done extensive research to help you choose the best electric griddle out of 10 different models. Find out which electric griddles you should consider and which ones to avoid!:

#1 Presto 07061 22-inch Electric Griddle

Presto 07061 electric griddle has 1500 watt cooking element and 231 square inches of cooking area

Cooking surface has a slight texture to it but it doesn’t have a negative affect on cooking, it also has non-stick coating just like (pretty much) every other electric griddle. Heat isn’t distributed perfectly even across the cooking surface, however the variance isn’t large so it doesn’t affect cooking much. Heat can be adjusted from 200 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit in 50 degree increments and the griddle heats up fast. Overall it does cook well, especially considering the low price.

cooking surface has nonstick coating

Drip tray slides out easily but it’s made of cheap plastic and can break if abused. Heat control can be removed and the rest of the unit is fully immersible. Handles are removable too.

#2 Presto 07047 Electric Griddle

Presto 07047 electric griddle has 1300 watt heating element. Heat distribution is not perfectly even (and with units this cheap it never is) but it’s even enough. Chicken, fish, steaks, eggs – everything turns out great. Non-stick coating prevents food from sticking.

Grease drains well and drip pan is sufficiently large. Drip tray conveniently slides out. Unit is fully immersible and dishwasher safe once you remove the heat control

Presto 07047 base is made of heavy cast aluminum.

#3 Cuisinart GR-5B Electric Griddler

Cuisinart GR-5B electric griddler can be used in different ways: as a contact grill, panini press, full grill, full griddle or half grill/half griddle. Temperature is adjustable from 175 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. It doesn’t heat up as fast as some other devices but it does cook well.

Cuisinart GR-5B features LCD display that shows selected function, temperature and timer. Cooking plates are reversible (grill or griddle), removable and dishwasher safe. They have nonstick coating too. Controls are very simple, there are only two controls: on/off button & circular knob that adjusts temperature, cooking time and mode. There is slight tilt to drain grease which it does well.

#4 Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler

Cuisinart GR-4N features removable and reversible 11 x 9 inch cooking plates. They are non-stick coated and dishwasher safe. Plates are reversible for two cooking modes: griddle & grill/panini. Griddle settings lets you set temperature between 200 and 425 degrees Fahrenheit, whereas grill/panini mode has 5 heat settings: warm, low, medium high and sear. It heats up fast and cooks really well. You can throw at it eggs, bacon, pork chops, sandwiches, bacon, steak – it all turns out great.

Cuisinart GR-4N has a drip tray but it’s of flawed design. It’s not big enough so you might find grease spilling out when you open the lid. However just like cooking plates it’s easily removable and easy to clean.

#5 Hamilton Beach 38518R

Hamilton Beach 38518R has 200 square inches of cooking surface. Heat can be adjusted from 200 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. It doesn’t heat evenly but the temperature is pretty accurate and consistent. Cooking surface has Durathon ceramic non stick coating.

Design is pretty flat and due to that not all grease is drained.

#6 Dash DMG8100AQ 8″ Round Electric Griddle

Dash DMG8100AQ 8″ electric griddle has 760 watt heating element. It’s small and compact, don’t expect to be making large meals with this. It’s a good device if you travel alone. Cooks eggs, pancakes and quesadillas well, makes n ear perfect grilled cheese sandwiches too.

Cooking surface has PFOA-free non-stick coating and is easy to clean. It doesn’t have on/off button (so it’s works non-stop when plugged). Has locking mechanism to keep it shut.

#7 Dash DMS001AQ Mini Electric Griddle

Dash DMS001AQ is a small electric griddle with 350 heating wattage. It gets very hot and cooks well. It’s very small in size so you won’t be able to cook much though, like 1 egg or small steak. The food doesn’t stick.

The dual plates are non-stick. They are not removable however most of the time cleaning them with a damp paper towel will do the job so clean up for the most part isn’t difficult.

Dash DMS001AQ doesn’t have on/off switch, it creates heat all the time it’s plugged in so once you finish using it you have to unplug.

#8 BELLA 14606

BELLA 14606 has 1500 watt heating system. Temperature can be adjusted from 200 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (not including “warm” setting) in 50 degree increments. Cooking surface has copper titanium non-stick coating – it’s super slippery so it’s hard to pick up food after cooking yet it’s not long lasting and after few weeks/months of use surface becomes very sticky. Heat also isn’t distributed evenly and in some cases variance can be pretty large (up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit).

#9 BLACK+DECKER GD2011B Electric Griddle

BLACK+DECKER GD2011B has 200 square inches of cooking surface. Temperature control is imprecise and cooking surface heats well over the chosen temperature. It’s also not evenly distributed and variance can be up to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s not a small variance but you can still cook food reasonably well, well at least while the non-stick coating isn’t ruined. It’s very thin and scratches easily, even if you avoid scratching it probably won’t last long since it’s so thin. Don’t be surprised if food starts to stick after a while, it’s to be expected of this model. The base/bottom does heat up quite a bit too.

It has removable drip tray and grease seems to be drained into it pretty well. Cord is very short so you will only be able to use it nearby outlet without extension.

#10 Hamilton Beach 3-in-1 Electric Indoor Grill/Griddle

Hamilton Beach 3-in-1 electric indoor grill has 180 square inches of cooking surface. Cooking plates are PFOA-free non-stick coated, reversible (grill or griddle) and removable. Temperature is adjustable from 200 to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Grill does heat up fast and cooks well, however grease isn’t properly drained into drip tray, some of it gets into the base and heating element which creates smoke and is super hard to clean afterwards.

Cooking plates and grease tray are dishwasher safe. Dials are fragile.
