Antarctic Star Z5818 48lbs/24h Ice Maker Machine Review

Antarctic Star Z5818 ice maker makes up to 48 pounds of square shaped ice cubes in 24 hours – nearly twice as much as most portable/countertop ice machines. It uses copper aluminum fin condenser and 21g R600a refrigerant for ice making process.

Ice production

Antarctic Star Z5818 makes 24 ice cubes per batch. Each batch takes anywhere between 15 to 25 minutes – you can how long it makes single batch yourself, the longer the bigger/thicker ice cubes will be.

Ice cube quality is good however one issue is that they can come out as a single sheet. It’s easy to break them apart but it’s a slight inconvenience anyway.

Control panel

Antarctic Star Z5818 features LCD display than shows multitude on information and 4 buttons: “Timer”, “On/Off”, “-” and “+” – all of them are pretty self-explanatory. Timer button is for setting timer. On/Off button is for turned ice machine on or off. – and + buttons are for adjusting batch production time.

When water reservoir is empty unit will pause ice production to prevent waterpump from damage and display a warning on LCD display. Water reservoir capacity is 2.2 liters which equals to 74 oz. It also has sensor for detecting when ice basket is full and when it does it also pauses ice production until you take care of it.

Antarctic Star Z5818 48lbs/24h ice maker measures 11 inches wide, 14.1 inches deep and 13.7 inches high. It weighs 23.15 pounds.

Conclusions

Antarctic Star Z5818 is a decent ice maker but it’s more expensive than units who make 26lbs of ice per 24 hours. Whether increased price tag is worth the extra ice production capacity is up to you to decide.
